» Abstract

This paper demonstrates the feasibility and attractiveness of NUM-INP, an extension of the Network Utility Maximization (NUM) framework that considers the integration of in-network processing. The NUM-INP protocol provides for distributed convergence of source transmission rate and compression ratio to near-optimal values, while respecting user-defined prioritization through the use of mission-specific utility functions. Specifically, we present an implementation of the NUM-INP protocol, and discuss our results, in contrast with our expectation from eventbased simulation.
